God has given us a Brand Name

by James Harris

I have been in the business world most of my life except for the 7 years on church staff in KC. I have had the opportunity to help companies build their brand, “the what they are known for statement.” The whole idea is to build something that you are known for in the customer’s mind and do it in as few words as possible. Words like Fresh, great customer service, or best price. We build a branding strategy by building core values and a mission statement throughout our organization to make the statement a reality for customers.

The sad commentary for the Church in America is that more people know what we are against than what we are for.

John 13: 34-35 Jesus gives a brand statement that we should be known for to our world.

I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.”

Love is a decision, not a feeling. You can’t afford to wait until you feel like it or you may never feel like it and thus walk-in disobedience for a lifetime. Feelings are real but they alone make lousy guides. Feelings may come from facts that someone did this or that to you and cause you to feel this way or that about them, don’t give in but choose to love. It's ok to look at the facts but don't let go of the Truth, which is Jesus Christ.

Pray to the Lord to restore your Love for Him and loving others will be easier.

Our brand is “Those that love one another.”
